Matteo Darmian’s agent has insisted that the defender could likely continue at Manchester United beyond the end of the transfer window.

Darmian has made it clear that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer and a move back to Italy for him has been mooted over the last few months.

Interest from Juventus seems to have faded as they have struggled to agree a fee with Manchester United despite thrashing out personal terms with the defender.

Napoli are interested in taking him back to Italy and are considering signing him on an initial loan deal with an option to buy, but it seems Darmian could still be at Old Trafford beyond the end of the window.

The defender’s agent revealed that Jose Mourinho is unlikely to let Darmian leave and his client is expected to continue at Manchester United.

“There is hardly a possibility of Manchester United and Mourinho giving up Matteo”, his agent told Italian broadcaster SportItalia.

“So most likely he won’t leave the Premier League and will stay there.”

With Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot expected to miss the start of the season due to injuries, Mourinho could have changed his plans for Darmian this summer.
