Manchester United have opened talks with the entourage of Everton and Wolves target Yerry Mina over the possibility of signing him this summer.

Jose Mourinho is confident of signing one more defender before next Thursday’s deadline and Manchester United are largely expected to bring in a centre-back.

Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld are believed to be their primary targets, but Manchester United are unsure of getting deals done for either in time.

The Premier League giants have decided to put other irons in fire and it has been claimed that they have opened a parallel track towards Barcelona defender Mina.

And according to Catalan daily Sport, Manchester United have started negotiations with the Colombian’s representatives over a proposed move to Old Trafford.

The talks are progressing smoothly and Manchester United are expected to agree terms on a contract with the defender before taking a call on approaching Barcelona.

Mina has a concrete offer on his table for Everton and the Toffees are prepared to wait until the last moment to agree a deal with Barcelona.

He has also been on the agenda of Premier League new boys Wolves.

Barcelona are preparing to sell the centre-back this summer and are claimed to be asking for a fee of around €30m.
