Napoli are stepping up on their efforts to sign Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian and have already prepared a contract for him.

Darmian has stated publicly that he could leave Manchester United this summer and is keen to return to Italy in the ongoing transfer window.

The defender agreed personal terms with Juventus earlier in the summer, but that deal seems unlikely as the Italian champions are not willing to bend to Manchester United’s financial demands.

Inter have reportedly re-established contact with Darmian’s agents to propose a move, but for the moment Napoli are the ones who are putting in the legwork to take him back to Italy.

After an initial reluctance, Napoli are prepared to meet Manchester United’s financial conditions and according to Italian daily Tuttosport, the club are working on the modalities of the deal.

The Serie A giants are keen to propose a deal with a lower initial fee, but top it up with attainable add-ons to meet the figure Manchester United want from the defender’s sale.

Napoli have also prepared a four-year contract worth €3m per season for the 28-year-old Italy international.

The club’s desperation to land a right-back is pushing them towards getting a deal done for the Manchester United star.
