NK Osijek defender Borna Barisic has arrived in Glasgow to secure a move to Rangers for a fee in the region of £2m, according to STV.

The 25-year-old featured for the Croatian side in the Europa League qualifying tie against the Glasgow giants, impressing manager Steven Gerrard with his performances.

The player though will not be eligible to feature for the Gers in the Europa League until the group stage after having already represented Osijek in the qualifiers.

The player had himself admitted previously that he would love the play for the Scottish club after being impressed by the Ibrox atmosphere.

Barisic will be among the long list of players to arrive at Ibrox this summer as manager Gerrard continues with the process of overhauling his squad.

The defender has managed three appearances for Croatia and was shortlisted in the country's 32-man preliminary squad for the World Cup in Russia, though he failed to make the final cut.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson also continues to be an active target as the transfer window draws to a close.

Rangers are scheduled to take on Slovenian outfit Maribor in their Europa League third qualifying round tie, starting this Thursday.
