Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic on a season-long loan deal.

The Croatian has been clear about leaving Real Madrid this summer as he is keen to play regular football next season, something he was not getting at the Bernabeu.




The midfielder appeared at Real Madrid’s facilities this morning and was prepared to tell the club that he will not be training in order to force through a move.

However, Real Madrid have informed that the midfielder that they are close to negotiating his exit and according to Spanish daily Marca, the player is on his way to Chelsea this summer.
 


Chelsea have been in talks with the European champions for the Croatia international and it has been claimed that the two clubs are close to agreeing a loan deal.

Real Madrid were unwilling to let the player leave on a permanent transfer but have agreed to loan him out in order to reach a compromise.

Kovacic trained away from the first team squad today and is waiting for the club’s signal to travel to England in order to complete the formalities of the transfer.

Chelsea have been scrambling in the market for new signings and it seems they are close to getting one deal over the line.
