Chelsea favour a swoop for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland over Athletic Bilbao shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to Sky Sports News.

The Blues are looking for a new goalkeeper as they prepare to sell Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid.

The Premier League outfit are assessing a number of goalkeepers and it is claimed that Stoke's Butland is their priority target, with a price tag of £30m expected to be placed on the shot-stopper.

While Chelsea hold an interest in Arrizabalaga, he would cost in the region of £70m, something which also adds to Butland's attractiveness.

Courtois, who is into the final year of his contract at Chelsea, is pushing to join Real Madrid.

However, Chelsea will not sign off on the deal until they have secured a replacement for the Belgian.

Chelsea are racing against the clock due to Premier League clubs choosing to close their transfer window on Thursday, a date no other European country has fallen into line with.

Stoke paid Birmingham City a fee of £3.3m to sign Butland in the 2013 January transfer window.
