Jerome Boateng has personally called Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to tell him he will not move to Old Trafford this summer.

Bayern Munich have been willing to sell Boateng this summer, but only for the right price, and Manchester United have not got close to meeting it, with time running out for Premier League sides to do deals.

Now Boateng has ended the transfer hopes of the Red Devils before even the window closes on Thursday.

According to German magazine Sport Bild, Boateng personally picked up the phone to Mourinho to tell him a move will not take place.

Boateng thanked the Manchester United manager for his interest, but informed him he will not switch to the Red Devils this summer.

It is claimed that a conversation with new Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac also had an impact on Boateng's thinking.
