Tottenham Hotspur could rekindle their interest in signing Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele before the transfer window for Premier League clubs shuts on Thursday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have yet to make a signing this summer and are up against it due to the Premier League's decision to close their transfer window early.

They were linked with Lyon midfielder Ndombele earlier this summer, with the 21-year-old highly rated by Pochettino.

Lyon are set against selling Ndombele this summer, but Tottenham could still rekindle their interest, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

They would face paying a steep price to change Lyon's mind though.

French clubs are waiting to get started with their transfer business after the Premier League window closes, with premium prices demanded from English sides.

If big sales are made to English clubs, French sides know they would have ample time, through to 31st August, to secure replacements.

And they are aware how the early closure of the Premier League window has heaped pressure on English clubs to do deals.
