Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui has refused to speculate about the arrival of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea and insisted that Keylor Navas has his trust.

The European champions are expected to complete a move to sign the Belgium number one from Chelsea once the Blues sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.

Courtois has been insistent on returning to the Spanish capital, where he played for Atletico Madrid for three seasons, and has forced Chelsea’s hand by going missing from training.

The deal is expected to go through soon and the Belgian is expected to be the new number one at the Bernabeu, but Lopetegui is not counting his chickens yet.

He insisted that for the moment Navas remains his number one between the sticks and the Real Madrid coach is not interested in discussing the possibility of Courtois replacing the Costa Rican.

The Spaniard was quoted as saying by AS: “We don’t talk about those who are not in Madrid. I will talk about those who are.

“There is no one else I can talk about. You have seen that Keylor is here and he has played.”

Asked who will be in goal for Real Madrid for the UEFA Super Cup game, he said: “You put the bridge before the river.

“Keylor has been phenomenal for us. He is extraordinary and is delighted to belong to Madrid.

“And we want him to continue with us.”
