Real Madrid are expecting to finalise a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on Thursday, with personal terms already agreed between the player and the club.

With Chelsea closing in on the world record signing of Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Courtois is also now on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Belgian has been on strike to force the transfer and it seems his belligerence is about to be rewarded as he prepares to return to the Spanish capital with Real Madrid.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, Real Madrid are set to finalise the deal to sign the goalkeeper from Chelsea on Thursday and welcome a new number one to the Bernabeu.

Courtois has already agreed personal terms with the European champions and he will be signing a six-year contract with Los Blancos.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement over a fee with Chelsea as well and the Blues will be getting a sum in the region of £35m from the goalkeeper’s departure.

Courtois rejected multiple offers of a new deal from Chelsea and with only a year left on his current contract, the club had little choice but to agree to his transfer.

Arrizabalaga is set to arrive in England today to complete his £71.6m move to Chelsea, which will make him the most expensive goalkeeper in the world.
