Watford are closing in on the capture of Newcastle United linked midfielder Stefano Sturaro.
The Italian midfielder has been tipped for an exit from Serie A champions Juventus this summer after being a bit part player last term.
Several Premier League sides have been linked with wanting Sturaro, along with Newcastle, consistently identified as a possible destination, while Genoa and Fiorentina have been mooted as Serie A options.
But according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, it is Watford who are set to win the race for Sturaro's signature.
He is poised to sign a loan deal with Watford and the agreement could also contain a purchase option for the Hornets to activate if he impresses.
Sturaro will be aiming to enjoy a season of regular football at Watford if he does make the move to Vicarage Road.
He has made a total of 93 appearances in Serie A and has yet to taste football outside Italy.
Sturaro's contract with Juventus runs until 2021.
