Stoke City and Middlesbrough target Harry Arter is to have a medical with Cardiff City, according to the Sun.

The Bournemouth midfielder is available for a Dean Court exit and has attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Stoke and Middlesbrough, who are keen, could sign Arter on a loan deal with a buying obligation in January, until 31st August.

But Premier League side Cardiff must do business today due to the early closure of the league's transfer window.

And Neil Warnock's men look to be closing in on the 28-year-old's signature.

The Bluebirds are racing against the clock and will give Arter a medical ahead of completing the deal.

Arter, a Republic of Ireland international, will bolster Warnock's Bluebird resources this season.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic, where he began his career, but rose to prominence at Bournemouth, who he joined in 2010.
