Talk of Arsenal making a late big money move to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona are wide of the mark.

The Gunners have been claimed to be pressing the accelerator on a late swoop to take Dembele to the Emirates Stadium before the Premier League transfer window closes at 5pm.

But, according to the BBC, the claims are false and Arsenal are not trying to sign the Barcelona star.

Arsenal remain firm admirers of Dembele and have been open to an exceptional deal if one came along, but there will be no swoop for the attacker on deadline day.

The 21-year-old has been regularly linked with Premier League clubs over recent months, with Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp also a fan of his abilities.

Barcelona signed Dembele from Borussia Dortmund last summer, shelling out an initial €105m to do the deal.

However, injuries interrupted Dembele's debut campaign at the Camp Nou.

The attacker helped France win the World Cup earlier this summer.
