Everton are in negotiations to sign out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes on transfer deadline day, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Barcelona have been wanting to ship out the Portugal international all summer and it seems they could succeed on the last day of the window for Premier League clubs.

Manchester United rejected a chance to sign him as part of a deal for Paul Pogba to move to Spain but Gomes is expected to be a Premier League player by 5pm today.

Everton are in advanced negotiations with Catalan giants and are hopeful of concluding a deal to sign the 25-year-old midfielder.

An agreement is yet to be in place but Gomes is expected to join the Toffees on an initial loan deal with the club presumably reserving an option to buy.

The midfielder is waiting for the green signal from Barcelona to travel to England in order to complete the formalities of the switch.

Everton are confident that they will be able to take the deal over the line to sign Gomes by 5pm today.

The Portuguese joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2016 and has turned in 78 appearances for the Catalan giants.
