Manchester United were unwilling to pay the agents fees which would have been involved in a deal to sign Yerry Mina, who has signed for Everton.

The Toffees have completed the signing of Colombia defender Mina from Barcelona for an initial fee of £27.2m, with a further £1.35m in bonus payments to potentially follow down the line.

Manchester United, who have been in the market for a central defender, were also interested in signing Mina.

However, according to the Press Association, Jose Mourinho's side were put off when it came to completing the deal due to the level of fees being demanded by agents.

The Premier League side believed they were excessive and terminated their interest in Mina.

Barcelona have successfully put a buy-back clause into their agreement to sell Mina to Everton, meaning the Colombian may not have played his last game at the Camp Nou.

Mina bolstered his credentials with a series of superb performances at the World Cup earlier this summer for Russia.

They were not enough though to change Barcelona's plans for him and he has been shown the exit door.
