West Ham new boy Lucas Perez has insisted that he is very excited about joining the Hammers as it will give him the chance to continue playing in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old arrived from Arsenal on the Premier League's deadline day for a fee in the region of £4m and put pen-to-paper to a three-year deal.

The striker spent last season on loan at Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna after finding chances hard to come by at the Emirates Stadium under former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

And with new head coach Unai Emery giving him no assurances over playing time, the decision to sell the player was taken, with the Hammers pouncing and thus making him one of the lost list of their arrivals this summer.

“I’m very happy to be here at such an historic club”, Perez told West Ham's official website.

“I’m very excited, as West Ham are giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League and I’m very happy to be part of this new project.

“West Ham have great fans and play in an amazing stadium, so to sign here brings me great joy.

"I’m very motivated.”

Perez initially arrived in England in 2016, signing from the same club where he spent last season on loan, Deportivo La Coruna, managing a total of 21 appearances for the Gunners during his stay, and scoring seven goals.
