Joao Mario, who has been linked with a late move to Tottenham Hotspur, has turned down an approach from Chelsea.

Inter want to offload the Portugal international this summer, but have been struggling to find clubs willing to meet their demands.

The Italian side have softened their demands of late and it was claimed in Italy earlier today that Tottenham have made a loan offer for Mario.

It has now emerged that Mario has already knocked back Chelsea.

According to Italian outlet FcInterNews.it, the midfielder made clear he was not willing to join Chelsea.

The reason for his refusal is claimed to be the fact that the Blues are managed by Maurizio Sarri.

After his experience in Serie A, Mario does not want to be coached by an Italian manager.

He believes his characteristics are not suited to the Italian way of working and tactical demands, and wants to make sure he starts fresh away from his time at Inter.

It remains to be seen if a late, late move to Tottenham could happen, with time running out.
