Paul Pogba was never pushing to leave Manchester United to join Barcelona, it has been claimed.

Speculation was rife in the run up to the Premier League's deadline day that Pogba was pushing for a move to Barcelona and a switch to the Camp Nou could happen.

However, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, citing sources within Old Trafford, the France midfielder never wanted to leave the club.

It was further reported that Pogba wanted a hefty pay rise to stay put.

But that has also been denied, with Pogba not asking to have his salary package increased at Manchester United.

Further, it was suggested the Red Devils had been left fuming at Pogba's agent Mino Raiola, who they thought was trying to create a big money move for his client.

This has also been denied, with Raiola's relationship with Manchester United not having suffered.

Despite the Spanish transfer window remaining open until the end of the month, Manchester United are not expected to consider offers for Pogba as they cannot sign a replacement.
