James Tavernier has admitted he would love to team-up with brother Marcus at Rangers, joking he will speak to the Gers' director of football Mark Allen.

Marcus, a winger, is on the books at English Championship club Middlesbrough.

He made his professional debut for Middlesbrough at the start of last season, but ended the campaign at MK Dons, having joined the then League One side on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Attacker Marcus is considered a bright talent and has been capped by England at Under-19 level.

And James admits he would love to play alongside his brother at Rangers in the future.

Speaking about who he would like to play alongside at Ibrox, James told Rangers TV: "My brother [I’d play with].

"Hope so [that he could come to Rangers].

"Might have a word with Mark, see if anything can happen", the full-back added.

James was the subject of interest from West Brom before the window for permanent signings in England ended on Thursday, with the Baggies offering £3m to take him to the Hawthorns.

However, Rangers opted to keep hold of the defender, who has been thrown the captain's armband by Steven Gerrard for this season.
