A move to Sporting Lisbon for Newcastle United, Leicester City and West Ham linked Stefano Sturaro has been put on hold and the Portuguese club's coach is coy on the situation.

Juventus received offers from all three Premier League clubs this summer, but none met their asking price and Sturaro did not head to England.

Soon after the closure of the Premier League transfer window, Juventus changed their stance agreed to loan Sturaro to Sporting Lisbon.

But, according to Portuguese daily Record, the move has hit an obstacle due to unspecified physical and financial issues.

Sporting Lisbon coach Jose Peseiro was asked about Sturaro and replied: "When it is official, I will be able to talk.

"As long as it is not, I am not going to talk about it. There are others in our sights that you do not know about."

If Sturaro's move to Sporting Lisbon collapses, he may be available for Premier League sides to rekindle their interest in the January transfer window.

The midfielder was a bit part player at Juventus last season and has been keen to leave Turin in order to play regular first team football this term.
