Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente has been offered to Marseille on a loan deal, though the Ligue 1 outfit decided not to pursue a deal for the player.

The veteran striker has been on the lookout for regular football this season and his agents have been exploring different options to make it possible.

The 33-year-old has found his chances limited in north London, mostly playing second fiddle to Harry Kane.

He managed a total of 16 Premier League appearances last term, scoring just one goal with his overall figures tally in all competition going up to 31.

According to France Football, Marseille were contacted and offered the chance to move for Llorente on loan, but decided not to follow up with a deal which would have kept the veteran in France for the entire 2018/19 season.

Llorente was on the bench for Tottenham's first league match this weekend against Newcastle United, but didn't make it on to the pitch.

He has a contract with the club that runs until summer next year.

There is still a chance for him to find a way out of Tottenham, with clubs still trying to make signings.
