The agent of Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has conceded that there is still no agreement for his client to join Napoli this summer.

Mignolet lost his place in the starting eleven to Loris Karius last season and Alisson’s arrival at Liverpool has further pushed him down the goalkeeping pecking order.

Nico Vaessen, his agent, has claimed that Liverpool are keen to hold on to him, but the Belgian is desperate to play regular football at a big club this season.

Napoli have been in talks with the goalkeeper’s representatives over a proposed move, but Mignolet’s agent stressed that there is still no agreement for him to move to the San Paolo.

“We are still discussing, but there is no agreement yet”, the goalkeeper’s agent told Belgian daily DH.

“It is in the interest of the club to find a solution.

“Liverpool want to keep him but if they want him, he must play.

"He deserves to play in a big team.”

Napoli are desperate for a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes in Italy this Friday and Vaessen believes signing Mignolet would make sporting sense for the Serie A giants.

“For them Simon represents the best option in terms of quality, but there is also the financial aspect as well.”

Mignolet was not part of Liverpool’s squad that beat West Ham on Sunday at Anfield.
