Rangers have turned down a bid from French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux for striker Alfredo Morelos.

Bordeaux are in the market to land a striker before the transfer window closes in France at the end of the month and Morelos is firmly on the club's radar.

Now it has emerged they have made an attempt to agree a fee with Rangers for the striker, but have been rebuffed.

Bordeaux offered Rangers £3.75m for Morelos, but the Gers turned it down, according to BBC Scotland.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard has praised Morelos since he took over at Ibrox and believes there is more to come from the 22-year-old.

But Bordeaux could yet return with a larger offer to test Rangers' resolve.

Rangers paid Finnish side HJK Helsinki £1m to sign Morelos last summer and he penned a new contract with the club in March this year.

Morelos, who has already scored three goals this season, is under contract until 2021.
