West Ham United’s record signing, Felipe Anderson, has admitted that the club’s new signings need to adapt quickly in east London and help justify the club’s hefty investment.

The Hammers succumbed to a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Liverpool on Merseyside on Sunday, to begin their 2018/19 Premier League campaign under Manuel Pellegrini.

West Ham were one of the most active customers during the summer transfer window and spent over £90m on fresh recruits ahead of their new campaign, with Anderson topping off the list as the record signing when he arrived for about £36m from Lazio.

Despite their staggering loss against Liverpool, Anderson believes that the team are potent enough to play an attractive brand of football under the new manager and stressed the fact that the new recruits need to repay the faith showered upon them by the club in the form of big investments.

The Brazilian also admitted that the new signings, including himself, will take a bit of time to adapt to the new surroundings and that the fans can expect ‘beautiful football’ once they have settled in at the London stadium.

“We have very good expectations for the season, this team wants to play beautiful football and, with a bit more time, all the new signings are going to adapt”, Anderson told the club’s official website.

“The club made a big investment and now what we need to do is to work to make things go well.

“I always wanted to play in the Premier League. It’s a league in which teams like to have the ball and are constantly attacking.

“Thank God now I have the chance to be here, so I’m working hard to adapt as quickly as possible and give my best effort”, he added.

Anderson, along with the other newcomers at the club, will hope to make their home debut against Bournemouth on Saturday and will aim to secure all three points from the game.
