Rangers manager Steven Gerrard believes Bordeaux showed a lack of respect with their derisory bid for striker Alfredo Morelos.

Morelos is a wanted man this summer and Bordeaux are interested in taking the striker to France before the end of the transfer window this month.

Rangers recently rejected £3.75m bid from the Ligue 1 outfit and Gerrard has insisted that the club are not interested in selling their front man during the ongoing window.

He stressed if Bordeaux want to sign Morelos they would have to make a bid that would blow Rangers away but until then, the Scottish giants won’t take a step back.

"The message to Bordeaux is we don't want to sell", Gerrard was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"If they want the player then they need to show some respect and come blow us out the water with a massive, massive bid. Otherwise don't pick the phone up.”

The Rangers boss believes Bordeaux’s initial bid lacked respect and insisted that the club won’t allow anyone to come in and take one of their best players with such sorts of offers.

The former Liverpool man wants Morelos to continue at Rangers and sign a new contract with the club.

"It's the right decision to reject it, it's nowhere near high enough", said Gerrard.

"Teams can't think they can knock at our door and pinch our best players for derisory bids. It's not going to happen.

"For me, I want him to stay.

"I want him to sign a new deal on improved terms and help the rest of us be successful moving forward."
