Maurizio Sarri has dismissed the importance of Arsenal struggling against Manchester City ahead of Chelsea taking on the Gunners on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's champions eased to a 2-0 win over the Gunners, having little trouble taking all three points from their trip to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal did not finish in the top four last season and alarm bells have been sent ringing in some quarters at their inability to lay a glove on Manchester City.

But Sarri has dismissed the importance of Arsenal losing against the Citizens.

Asked about Arsenal finding it difficult against Manchester City, Sarri told a press conference: "For everybody it is difficult against Manchester City I think!"

Sarri also backed new Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

And the Chelsea boss does expect Arsenal to be a competitive side throughout the campaign.

"I think Emery is a very good coach.

"Arsenal in this season will be competitive", he added.

Chelsea won their opening Premier League game, beating Huddersfield Town 3-0 and will host Arsenal on Saturday at Stamford Bridge in the league's late kick off.
