Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has heaped praise on youngster Kalvin Phillips, who he believes has a "good orientation of the game" and also does well defensively when the Whites are outnumbered.

The youngster has featured in all three games for his team this season, impressing his boss with his performances.

His manager Bielsa feels that Phillips is a player who wants to play it simple and is good defensively, which is helpful for his team.

What impresses the veteran Argentine most about his player is the fact that Phillips helps his team defensively when they are outnumbered.

"He’s a player who plays simple", Bielsa told a press conference.

"He’s good from a defensive point of view. He has a very good long pass. He has a good orientation of the game.

"He is very good to get the ball from one space and put it into a better space.

"And when we are outnumbered he is very good defensively."

Phillips is a product of Leeds' youth academy having joined their youth system in 2014 from Wortley Juniors.

He was promoted to senior level in 2014 and has stayed for the last four seasons, managing a total of 97 appearances and scoring nine goals. He has also set up five more for his team-mates.

He has a contract with the Peacocks that runs until June 2021.
