Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has admitted that he needs to enter the transfer market to replace the goals lost by selling Josh Windass to Wigan Athletic.

The Gers surprisingly opted to sell Windass to English Championship side Wigan recently, cashing in on a man who had become a regular source of goals from midfield.

The transfer window remains open for Scottish clubs to do deals until the end of the month and Gerrard does not intend to head into the thick of the season without having replaced Windass.

He told a press conference: "We do feel we're a little bit light up front.

"We let Josh Windass go to Wigan recently. He scored a big number of goals for us last season.

"So the idea in the coming weeks is to replace those goals", Gerrard added.

Rangers may also have to battle to hold on to their star players.

The Gers have just rejected a £3.75m bid from French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux for striker Alfredo Morelos.

Morelos has attracted attention from several clubs and Rangers could find their resolve to keep hold of the striker tested again before the end of the month.
