Ragnar Klavan is due to undergo a medical in Italy later this afternoon as Liverpool finalise the details of his permanent move to Serie A side Cagliari.

Liverpool have accepted a bid from the Serie A outfit for the permanent switch of the Estonian defender and Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned his sale this summer.

Klavan has now stepped on to a plane and is expected to land in Milan soon to go through the process of finalising his €2m switch from Anfield.

According to Sky Italia, the 32-year-old centre-back will undergo a medical ahead of signing a contract with Cagliari to end his two-year stay with the Merseyside giants.

Liverpool and Cagliari are ironing out the final details of the deal for Klavan’s transfer, but the deal is expected to go through in time for the Serie A outfit to register him before tonight’s transfer deadline in Italy.

The Estonian centre-back joined Liverpool from Augsburg in 2016, but has gradually dropped down the pecking order of defenders at Anfield.

Klopp is happy with the options he has at centre-back this summer and has agreed to let the player go.

Klavan has made 53 appearances for the Reds over the last two seasons.
