Agent Silvio Pagliari has revealed that Southampton have set their face against letting striker Manolo Gabbiadini go, despite interest from Italy and Germany.

A return to Italy has always been considered the most likely move for Gabbiadini to make if he ends his association with Southampton this summer.

But the Italian transfer window will close this evening and Gabbiadini is not set for a move back to his homeland; the German transfer window remains firmly open until the end of the month.

The agent admits that Gabbiadini was told he was not available for transfer at Southampton, with the Saints valuing him highly.

"In June, I spoke with Southampton and he was always considered to be non-transferable", Pagliari told RMC Sport Network.

"They have not changed their mind, they rate him a lot.

"Manolo must pay back with the whole team.

"There were several teams that asked about him, both in Italy and the Bundesliga, but nothing was taken into consideration."

There is still time for Southampton to have a rethink with transfer windows elsewhere across Europe open, but if Gabbiadini was sold now, the Saints would be unable to replace him until January.

He came off the bench in the second half of Southampton's draw with Burnley in the Premier League last weekend.
