Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has predicted a tough night for Liverpool at Crystal Palace on Monday because of the way Roy Hodgson sets up his teams.

The Reds have made a fantastic start to the season with a 4-0 win over West Ham at Anfield and have been touted as the team who could stop the Manchester City juggernaut.

Liverpool are going into Monday night’s game at Selhurst Park as overwhelming favourites despite Crystal Palace’s impressive opening weekend win at Fulham.

However, Lawrenson has warned Liverpool of getting too complacent as he is certain that the Reds are going to find it tough when they play the Eagles on their home turf.

He believes Hodgson is adept at coaching his team to stop a free flowing Liverpool side from having their own way and the Reds legend is not sure about some of the predictions about the game.

Lawrenson said on LFC TV’s Preview Show: “The night games you think are quicker because of the lights etc.

“I think this is a far tougher game than a lot of people are thinking about because of Liverpool played well last weekend etc.

“The thing about Roy Hodgson is that he coaches his teams to fill the holes and with Liverpool, there will be a big build up and they would have had lots of days to work on it.

“I just think it’s going to be a really tough night for Liverpool.”

Liverpool needed a late goal from Mohamed Salah in March to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park in March.
