Andy Halliday believes Rangers have mastered the art of being hard to beat, both when they have the ball and when they do not.

Steven Gerrard's side have not suffered defeat yet this season and have advanced to the Europa League playoff round, where they will play Russian side FC Ufa for a place in the group stage.

Rangers went out in the first qualifying round last summer under former boss Pedro Caixinha and Halliday thinks the Gers under Gerrard have a tough mentality.

And while Halliday says Rangers are able to dominate the game when they have the ball, he also thinks they are equally tough when they do not have it, with much of the credit going to a summer training camp in Spain.

Halliday told Rangers TV: "I think there’s been a lot of improvement and a lot of that credit has to go to the gaffer and his coaching staff.

"This is a team that hasn’t been together for a long period of time. That’s why places like Marbella for the pre-season camp are so important.

"You fit in maybe six weeks worth of training in two weeks and the boys get to know each other better.

"It’s very intense but the amount of sessions you do you get to work on a lot and I think the biggest thing is resilience.

"I think we’re a hard team to beat now, with and without the ball.

"When we’re dominating the ball we’re hard to beat and when we’re doing the other side of things we’re hard to beat", the midfielder added.

Rangers will be looking to keep their unbeaten run going when they face Kilmarnock in the League Cup on Sunday.
