Harry Kane has conceded that he thought it would be a frustrating day for him until he scored in Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 win over Fulham at Wembley.

The England captain had not scored a goal for Tottenham for 14 consecutive games in the month of August until today, but the striker struggled to put away chances against Fulham.

He missed chances in the first half and finally scored in the second half to break his August jinx, but Kane admits he thought it would be another frustrating day for him in front of the goal.

Kane believes Tottenham created chances and deserved the win, but feels Fulham deserved credit for making them work hard to get into their defence at Wembley.

He said on Sky Sports: "I thought we played really well and we created a lot of chances.

“But credit to Fulham and only after about 60 minutes we started to take it into more dangerous areas.

"It looked like it would be one of those days for me, but that is the game of a striker.”

Kane doesn’t believe that the lack of summer signings will hurt Tottenham and is happy with the start they have made this season.

"We have been playing with each other for a long time this team.

"The gaffer has said he is not going to just bring in players for the sake of it.

"It is a good start with two wins out of two."

Tottenham will next travel to Manchester United on 27th August for a Monday night game at Old Trafford.
