Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear has struck a positive note about the chances of the Whites adding to their squad over the course of the month.

The transfer window remains open for Championship clubs to sign players on loan until the end of the month. But deals can also include an agreement for them to become permanent when the window opens again in January, meaning effectively, permanent deals remain on the table.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa is keen to make additions, strengthening his squad for the lengthy season ahead, and Kinnear is positive about the Whites' chances of doing so.

Kinnear wrote in Leeds' matchday programme: "We know the rigours of this league will require significant contributions from the entire squad and will also require the support of regular cameos from players emerging from the Under-23s.

"All the players who made their first starts against Bolton affirmed their right to be in first team contention.

"So while the football department will actively monitor the market until the end of the loan window which closes at the end of the month, we feel we are doing so from a position of strength", the CEO added.

"We believe that one or two opportunities are likely to present themselves but they will need to manifestly strengthen our hand if they are to be pursued."

Leeds could sign another central defender to provide cover for Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson, while Bielsa could also enter the market for a midfielder or winger.

The Yorkshire giants are also expected to continue to trim their squad of fringe players this month.
