Alex Iwobi says that Arsenal fought hard for new manager Unai Emery, despite going down to their second successive league defeat away at Chelsea.

The Gunners were 2-0 down after just 20 minutes at Stamford Bridge, with Pedro Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata striking for the hosts.

Arsenal's defending was poor, but Chelsea's was also shoddy and the Gunners battled their way back before half time, with goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Iwobi making it 2-2 at the break.

But Chelsea had another goal in them and it came with nine minutes to go via Marcos Alonso, earning a 3-2 win for the hosts.

Arsenal missed chances throughout and Iwobi admits he does not know why they only scored twice.

"We started shaky, I don’t know, maybe we didn’t know what to do, but we picked ourselves up and got going. Unfortunately we weren’t able to take all our chances", Iwobi was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The Arsenal star feels the momentum was with his team at the break and insists they gave their all for Emery, who has the full support of the players.

"We were on a high. The message was to keep it going, keep our head and don’t lose ourselves. We fought hard for him.

"We enjoy training, everyone is buying into his ideas. It all takes time, a new manager, a new system and the fans and players know that."

Arsenal have now played two and lost two in the Premier League standings, but have a chance to stop the rot next weekend when they welcome West Ham United to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners then face a trip to Cardiff City at the start of September.
