Celtic ace Leigh Griffiths has declared that the players will not be distracted by the fierce debate raging about club’s lack of signings in the transfer window so far.

Griffiths, who scored the opening goal in Celtic’s 3-1 win over Partick Thistle in the second round of the Scottish League Cup on Saturday, has insisted that the squad remain unaffected by the club’s inability to strengthen.

Celtic have endured a disappointing start to the new season after back to back losses against Hearts and AEK Athens, a result that knocked them out of the Champions League this year, while the Bhoys were also handed a blow in the pursuit of John McGinn, who joined Aston Villa from Hibernian.

Despite their early setbacks on all fronts, Griffiths has now claimed that the players remain unaffected by what happens off the pitch, while also admitting that they need to concentrate on getting results rather than worrying about marquee signings.

"We as players just need to focus on the job at hand", Griffiths told BBC Scotland

"Whatever happens with signing players and such is up to the manager and those above us. We just need to keep focusing on winning football matches.

"People are always going to want big marquee signings, but that's up to the manager and the people above him”, he added.

Celtic have been drawn against St Johnstone in the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup.
