Nantes will not sign Didier Ndong from Sunderland despite being offered the chance to do so for €6m.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been tipped for an exit from the Black Cats this summer, with a return to France, where he turned out for Lorient, mooted in some quarters.
But if Ndong is to return to French football in a bid to get his career back on track, it will not be with Ligue 1 side Nantes.
Nantes have been offered the chance to sign the midfielder for a fee of €6m, but they will not press ahead with a deal, according to Yahoo Sport France.
The Sunderland man spent the second half of last season on loan at Premier League side Watford.
But Ndong had a spell to forget at Vicarage Road as he failed to feature for the Hornets.
Sunderland splashed out over £13m to sign Ndong from Lorient in 2016 and handed him a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Ndong has been capped by Gabon at international level.
