Eden Hazard will wait to see whether Chelsea qualify for the Champions League this season before committing his long term future to the club.

The Belgian has a contract until 2020 with Chelsea, but the Blues have not offered him a new deal since he rejected an offer from the club in December.

Chelsea have been willing to increase Hazard’s wage rom about £220,000 to £300,000 a week, but the winger threw his future in doubt where he indicated that he would consider leaving.

The west London club refused to entertain any offers despite interest from Real Madrid and Hazard decided against forcing through a transfer during the summer window.

However, he is not yet ready to commit to a new deal and according to the Times, he will not sign a new deal until Chelsea qualify for the Champions League this season.

Chelsea have missed out on two out of the last four Champions League campaigns and the Belgian doesn’t want to miss out on playing in the competition for too long.

The Blues have been keen to avoid Hazard entering the final year of his contract but it seems increasingly likely that the scenario is likely to happen.

Hazard said on Sunday that he will stay at Chelsea this season but offered no guarantees on his future at the club next summer.
