Eredivise outfit Vitesse Arnhem have officially confirmed the signing of Martin Odegaard on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

The midfielder, who spent a year and a half on loan at SC Heerenveen, is no stranger to the Eredivise and becomes the 10th new face to have joined the club under head coach Leonid Slutsky this season.

Odegaard, who made his senior debut at the tender age of 15 with Stromsgodset IF in Norway, has been touted as a future star for some time, albeit finding regular involvement hard to come by at Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old, who has signed a deal that will keep him at Vitesse until the 30th of June next year, has admitted that he is delighted with the opportunity to represent the club.

“The past year and a half I have played in the Eredivisie, I was impressed by Vitesse”, Odegaard told the club’s official website

“I got to know Vitesse as a good footballing team, with an offensive and dominant view of the game. I think that way of playing is good for me.

“Vitesse has also shown that it gives young players a chance to dare.

"That is why I am happy with the opportunity that Vitesse offers me", he added.

The Norwegian youngster has been handed the number 18 shirt at Vitesse and will be available for selection for the club’s next league game against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.
