Chelsea loanee Tomas Kalas has expressed his delight at having been given the opportunity to join a side like Bristol City, who want to play football and not just kick long balls.

The 25-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Fulham and helped the Cottagers secure promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

He featured in 33 of the Cottagers' 46 Championship games and also had a hand in the side's promotion.

And now Kalas has yet again been sent out to the Championship, where he will spend the rest of the season under Robins' manager Lee Johnson.

Giving his reaction after having secured the move, the defender said that he is delighted with the opportunity.

"It would be nice to keep on going that way and at least get into the play-offs with Bristol City and to try and get promoted", Kalas told his new club's official website.

“I'm very excited to get my situation sorted and join a club that is willing to play football.

"When I was at Fulham we met teams like Bristol City so I am glad that I am joining a club who want to play football and not just kick long balls."

The Czech intentional joined Chelsea in 2010 and has since gone out on multiple loan spell.

Before joining Fulham on loan last year, the Pensioners tied him down to a new four-year contract.
