Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will not be taking charge of Bordeaux after he failed to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Henry and Bordeaux reached an agreement in principle earlier this month and the former striker was in line to replace the sacked Gus Poyet at the club.

However, the final decision on the appointment of a new coach was with the American investment group General American Capital Partners (GACP), who will be taking charge of the club next month.

GACP met Henry last week for discussions and the group was expected to take decision over the weekend on whether to appoint the former France international as the new coach.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the trail towards Henry ended last night after it became clear that the two sides would not be able to reach a final agreement over a deal.

The Bordeaux hierarchy felt Henry’s wage demands were excessive for someone who is yet to taste management in football and also believe his agent was also asking for too much money.

The French club decided against investing big money in a managerial greenhorn and are now looking at other options.

The American investors were always doubtful about potentially signing up Henry because of his lack of experience in management.
