Lyon could soon make a move for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele as Mariano Diaz edges closer towards the exit door at the Groupama Stadium.

The French giants have been preparing themselves to lose the striker and reached an agreement with Sevilla to sell the player on Monday night.

Diaz is expected to be on his way to Spain soon, but not to Sevilla as Real Madrid are claimed to have been closing in on an agreement to sign the striker back from Lyon.

Real Madrid had the option to match any competing bid for their former player and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, they have decided to trigger the option.

They were informed about the deal between Lyon and Sevilla on Tuesday morning and the club have decided to take Diaz back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Lyon are keen to bring in a replacement before agreeing to let the Dominican Republic striker go and Celtic’s Dembele is one of their key targets.

The French giants could accelerate their efforts to sign the Frenchman from the Scottish champions before sealing Diaz’s departure to Real Madrid.

They have already reportedly been in talks with Celtic and the Glasgow giants could soon have an offer to consider for Dembele from Lyon.
