Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he is looking to wrap up a loan deal for Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic.

Rodgers has been looking to make signings before the window closes for the summer on Friday night and a centre-back is high on his list.

And following Celtic's 3-0 win over Suduva to book a spot in the Europa League group stage, Rodgers confirmed he is aiming to push a loan deal for Benkovic, who was in the stands at Celtic Park, over the line. He told reporters post-match: "He's a highly rated centre-half; good in both boxes."

Celtic are also moving to complete a swoop for free agent midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.

Mulumbu turned on the style at Kilmarnock under Steve Clarke last season, but left Rugby Park at the end of the campaign

He is poised to put pen to paper to a two-year deal at Celtic Park.

Premier League side Leicester signed Benkovic from Dinamo Zagreb earlier this month, shelling out around £13m to snap him up.

Benkovic has represented Croatia up to Under-21 level.
