Aberdeen have rejected an offer from Championship outfit Aston Villa for Celtic target Scott McKenna, dismissing a proposal for him to move to England on loan with an obligation to buy.

Celtic recently had a bid for McKenna knocked back, with Aberdeen vowing not to sell the player.

McKenna has progressed at Aberdeen, making a total of 41 appearances for the Dons and has in between gone out on three loan spells, with two of them being at Championship outfit Ayr United.

He has also managed four appearances for his country Scotland since making his international debut earlier this year.

Aston Villa approached Aberdeen to sign McKenna on loan, with an obligation to buy for £6.5m then kicking in when the January window opens.

But according to Scottish broadcaster STV, Aberdeen have rejected Aston Villa's proposal.
