Lyon will pay Celtic a fee which could rise to €22m for striker Moussa Dembele.

Les Gones looked to have hit a brick wall with their efforts to sign Dembele from the Scottish champions on deadline day.

Celtic did not want to sell the goal-getter without first securing a replacement, but Dembele kept pushing to be allowed to return to his homeland with Lyon.

The Scottish champions have relented and, according to French broadcaster TF1, an agreement has been found on the basis of a fee which could rise to €22m.

Celtic will bank an initial €20m for Dembele, while a further €2m will be included in add-ons.

It is unclear what might trigger the add-ons, but Dembele's performance for Lyon, and the club's achievements during his time there, could make the extra payments payable.

Dembele will sign a five-year contract with Lyon.

Whether Celtic might sign a replacement, with just hours remaining in the window, remains to be seen.
