Moussa Dembele is furious with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and is set for showdown talks with him today as he looks to push his way out of the club on deadline day.

Celtic have rejected several offers from Lyon for Dembele recent days and Rodgers has ruled out the possibility of selling the Frenchman on transfer deadline day.

The Celtic manager has argued that he doesn’t have the time to bring in an adequate replacement for the striker and is therefore not going to let him leave.

Dembele has been left seething at the latest stance from Rodgers and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, he is determined to have a one-on-one meeting with the Celtic manager today.

He is expected to report for training today and is prepared for showdown talks with Rodgers in order to push his way out of Celtic in the final hours of the transfer window.

Dembele wants to play in the Champions League this season and already has a contractual agreement in place with Lyon in anticipation of a transfer back to France.

The 22-year-old has been left bemused by Rodgers’ excuse as he made it clear to Celtic that he wanted to leave early in the summer and the club have had adequate time to find a replacement.

What has infuriated Dembele about Rodgers’ words now is that the Celtic manager tried to push him to accept offers to join Brighton and West Brom in January and also tried selling him a transfer to China last summer.

The Frenchman and his representatives feel Rodgers is trying to protect his self-interest as he failed to sign a striker during the ongoing window.
