Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has the choice between joining Anderlecht of PAOK Salonika, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Markovic, who joined Liverpool from Benfica for a reported £20m in 2014, has struggled to establish himself as a regular first team member at Anfield and spent the second half of last season on loan at Anderlecht in Belgium.

The 24-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp with the Reds extensively trying to trim their squad before the transfer deadline later today.

According to the latest developments in the saga, the race for Markovic is heating up and he has the choice of a move to Belgium with Anderlecht or Greece with PAOK Salonika.

The former Benfica talisman is expected to put an end to his long horror show at Anfield by securing a move away from the club in the next several hours of deadline day.

Markovic, who went on loan spells at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht during his time at Liverpool, is currently in his final 12 months of the contract at Anfield and could be available for a paltry sum.
