Moussa Dembele is still hopeful of Celtic softening their stance and allowing him to leave for Lyon on the final day of the transfer window.

Celtic have already rejected several offers from the Ligue 1 giants, with the last bid claimed to be around €18m and Brendan Rodgers has insisted that the club won’t be selling the Frenchman.

The Celtic boss has conceded that it would be hard to find a replacement for Dembele and therefore, the club won’t be allowing him to leave at a late stage of the window.

The Scottish champions assured the player that he would be allowed to leave if they received an adequate bid for him, but it seems plans at Parkhead have changed.

Dembele was at Parkhead last night along with his representatives and has requested the Celtic hierarchy let him to move to Lyon on deadline day.

Celtic are yet to change their mind, but according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the striker is holding out on hope of joining the Ligue 1 giants before the window slams shut tonight.

Lyon are struggling to land their targets at the end of the window and it has led to them blocking Maxwel Cornet’s impending transfer to Wolfsburg.

The French giants are keen to sign Dembele but for the moment Celtic are remaining firm on their stance.
