Celtic legend Chris Sutton believes the Hoops should cash in on Moussa Dembele today as he feels the striker’s relationship with Brendan Rodgers has soured beyond the point of no return.

The Bhoys have rejected several offers from Lyon over the last few days and have made it clear that they won’t be allowing the Frenchman to leave on deadline day.

Dembele received assurances from Celtic earlier in the summer that he would be sold if the club received adequate offers, but the difficulties of finding a replacement for him have forced them into changing their mind.

The striker and his representatives pleaded with the Celtic hierarchy to no avail last night, but Sutton feels the Scottish champions should take the money on offer for Dembele.

Dembele posted a cryptic message on Twitter, appeared to be taking aim at Rodgers and Sutton feels there is no point in holding on to a player who has fallen out with the manager.

The former Celtic man took to Twitter and wrote: “No way back now for Dembele.

“Rodgers/Dembele relationship looks like it is irreparable.

“Take the money and let him go now.”

Lyon have until 23:00 today to sign players on permanent deals.
