Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has conceded that he needs to be playing more in order to return to the Scotland squad soon.

Christie spent last season on loan at Aberdeen and his performances at Pittodrie earned him a call-up to the Scotland squad and he has three international caps to his name.

However, the attacking midfielder has not made the cut in the national team since he returned to Celtic in the summer and he is aware what he needs to be doing to get the call again.

Christie admits that he enjoyed playing for Scotland last year, but conceded that at the moment he is not playing enough to earn a place in the national squad.

The 23-year-old is eyeing more minutes for Celtic in the coming months in order to force his way back into the Scotland set-up soon.

He told the club’s official website: “I had a taste of that last season and over the summer and really enjoyed it.

“It’s something I’m trying to work my way back in to, but for that I need to be playing more game time with Celtic.

“And that’s my main aim right now.”

He is yet to make a start for Celtic this season and has been used sparingly by Brendan Rodgers thus far.
